COURT NEWS: The Probate and Family Court has issued Standing Order 2-20, and 5-4-20 which covers operations of the court during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The link to the Standing Order can be found here – https://www.mass.gov/doc/district-court-standing-order-5-20-court-operations-under-the-exigent-circumstances-created-by/download

NURSING HOMES: We are also getting many updates from the groups that support the many people under guardianship within the nursing home system. All the nursing homes have been working hard to stop the virus from invading their walls and allowing for good communication of the well-being of the residents to family and guardians alike.  Many facilities are using the technology available to make connections possible despite the policies prohibiting physical visitation.  The creativity and hard work of the nursing homes have been heartwarming during this difficult time.  More information is available from the Massachusetts Senior Care Association and can be found here – https://www.maseniorcare.org/coronavirus-covid-19-information-and-resources.

The Commonwealth has a large amount of information available regarding the state’s response to the virus and how they are supporting the nursing home system and all the other citizens of Massachusetts.  Information specific to nursing homes can be found here – https://www.mass.gov/info-details/nursing-home-resources-related-to-covid-19 and general information can be found here – https://www.mass.gov/info-details/covid-19-updates-and-information.

REMOTE NOTARIZATION: The Massachusetts legislature recently passed a bill allowing remote notarization, which is critical for individuals who need to sign estate planning documents.  More information can be found here – https://massnaela.com/remote-notary/.
